Life In Sarasota

Moving from one state to another is not an easy endeavor for most people. Living in NY for most of my life, I was accustomed to a certain lifestyle that, after a while, felt uneasy. Since I was a teenager I have always loved visiting Florida at least once or twice a year. Finally in early 2022 I decided I wanted to fulfill my dream of living in the state I enjoyed so much. Having lived here for over a year now I wanted to share with you some of the amazing things to do in beautiful Sarasota. Whether you're into water activities, the arts, sports, nightlife, shopping or just enjoy long walks on the beach, I truly feel that Florida has something to offer for everyone.

1. Visit Siesta Key Beach... Known for its powdery, quartz white sand, Siesta Key Beach is a must-see destination for enjoying a tan, swimming, and numerous beach activities. In addition I personally love to play volleyball and jet ski out here. There are great drum circle performances here too!
2. Explore The Ringling... The Ringling Museum complex includes an art museum, circus museum, beautiful gardens, and the historic Ca'd'Zan mansion. If you're into architecture and history, this is the place for you.
3. St. Armand's Circle... Enjoy shopping and dining at this European-style shopping district with a variety of boutiques and restaurants. My favorites include Columbia restaurant, Ben and Jerry's, and Le Macron.
4. Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium... Discover beautiful marine life and conservation efforts through interactive exhibits and touch pools. A great experience for families from out of town. My nieces from NY absolutely loved it here!
5. Marie Selby Botanical Gardens... Experience the lush tropical gardens and diverse plant collections, including orchids and exotic plants. Definitely not one to miss as this gorgeous garden is open all year round.
6. Kayak or Paddleboard at Lido Key... Rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the scenic waterways around Lido Key. You might even see a dolphin or manatee. Absolutely one of my favorite activities on a sunny day and also a great workout!
7. Sarasota Jungle Gardens... A family-friendly attraction featuring tropical animals, bird shows, and lush landscaping. Yes, we have our own little jungle in Sarasota!
8. Visit Myakka River State Park... Explore the great outdoors with hiking trails, airboat tours, and wildlife viewing in Florida's oldest and largest state park. Includes nearly 40 miles of hiking trails and lots of cute gators!
9. Art Galleries and Studios... Sarasota has a vibrant arts scene, with numerous galleries and studios showcasing local and international artists. My favorite is the Wyland Gallery in St. Armand's key.
10. Catch a Performance... Enjoy live performances at venues like the Sarasota Opera, Florida Studio Theatre, and the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.

If you are ever planning on a visit to Sarasota let me be your tour guide. Hope to see you soon!
